Lyme Regis

12th April 2013 - 19th April 2013.

I flew from Glasgow Airport to Exeter Airport, and then by bus via Exeter. My accommodation for the week looked directly over the Cobb - the breakwater which features in the 1981 film The French Lieutenant's Woman, starring Meryl Streep.

The weather was poor during most of the week, with a lot of rain and strong winds, but my first day and my last day were good.

I walked from Lyme Regis along the South West Coast Path to Seaton one day, and another day I took the tramway from Seaton to Colyton.

On my last day, I did a bit of fossil hunting on Monmouth Beach, west of Lyme Regis (see my field trip), but unfortunately the best area for fossils, from Lyme to Charmouth, was inacessible due to civil engineering works.
